Trustee

Liz spent 23 years with Citizens Advice Taunton where, at one time or another, she has sat at most desks – from volunteer back in 1992 to Chief Officer from 2005 before retiring in 2016.    During this time she saw the paid staff team rise from 3 to 28 and the number of volunteers total over a hundred.  Liz ran various projects including Macmillan, Legal Aid Scheme, Pensionwise and Financial Inclusion. She also worked closely with the board of trustees to improve and develop the organisation including a move to newer and larger premises.

Liz served for nine years as a Trustee for Taunton Association for the Homeless and is also currently a Trustee for Taunton Heritage Trust, a 17th Century almshouse charity that also awards charitable grants to those in need.

Liz has been a trustee of Citizens Advice North Somerset since 2016 (re-elected 2019).

Roger Bailey is a local businessman and Weston Town Councillor.  He brings to the Board of Trustees a wealth of business knowledge and experience having spent over 40 years in the computer industry and was the founder of Redwood Computer Systems Ltd.

Roger has been a Weston Town Councillor since his election in 2011. In that time he has been Chair of the Community Services Committee, Weston-In-Bloom and Chair of the Council Allotment Committee. In 2012 Roger was nominated as a governor of Westhaven School and has been Chairman, Vice Chairman and Chair of Finance and Personnel committee.

Roger has been a Trustee of Citizens Advice North Somerset since April 2018 (elected 2018).

John Reeve is a Pensions Actuary who has worked for a number of large consultancies helping companies set up and manage their workplace pension schemes. He is now a part time Director of a small business doing the same work.

John is also a Governor at Mary Elton Primary School in Clevedon, part of the Clevedon Learning Trust and a Trustee of a large UK Pension Plan and he is a former Trustee of the Curzon Cinema in Clevedon where he still helps out. He also sits on a number of voluntary boards within the Pensions Industry and Actuarial profession. Throughout his career in financial services he has focused on helping members of the public understand the complex world of pensions. He is now keen to use the skills he has acquired to help CANS support the North Somerset community more widely.

John and his wife, Kim, moved to Clevedon in 1993 and they have three adult children the youngest of whom is at Nottingham University.

John has been a Trustee of Citizens Advice North Somerset since May 2020.

Ian Campbell OBE spent 30 years in international trade before becoming Chief Executive of the Institute of Export – a national educational charity. These experiences contributed to his interest in cultural diversity and a continuing love of travel.  In 2001 he was awarded the OBE for services to UK international trade.

Following his retirement he joined Citizens Advice in Lincolnshire as a volunteer where he served as a Trustee for seven years and then as an Advisor. After three years in that role he and his wife moved to Portishead (in 2019) to be closer to family.  He was delighted to be invited to join the CANS board to continue his contribution to Citizens Advice.

Ian has been a Trustee of Citizens Advice North Somerset since May 2020.

Gary Wright is an experienced manager and leader with a background in banking, finance, debt management and client relationships.

Gary began his career in branch banking, progressing to senior management roles in business, commercial and corporate banking over a thirty year period. He specialised in working with financially distressed companies and headed national teams for one of the UK’s largest banks. On leaving the banking profession, Gary moved into the charity sector, becoming a finance executive for a large youth charity before joining Citizens Advice North Somerset as Finance Manager in 2018. He has a Masters Degree in Finance and retired from CANS in July 2020.

Gary has been a Trustee of Citizens Advice North Somerset since November 2020.

Aminder Nijjar works for a regulator in the education sector and is a freelance equality, diversity and inclusion consultant.

She has extensive experience of project management, consultancy, coaching, teaching and training. In the past she has volunteered as a treasurer and assistant auditor. Aminder’s focus is on supporting individuals, teams and organisations to clarify and achieve their ambitions. Aminder has been a Trustee of Citizens Advice North
